The 7 hidden costs that eat your wholesale margin alive.

Hey {{first_name}} 👋

Most buyers calculate margin from the invoice price. Invoice cost vs. sell price = margin. Clean. Simple. Wrong.

The real cost of a wholesale order isn't on the invoice. It's spread across seven line items most people don't track until tax season — and by then it's too late to course correct.

"Margin is what you keep — not what you mark up."

The 7 line items

1. Freight surprises. Quoted freight is rarely landed freight. Add 8–12%.

2. Storage rent. Every box on your shelf has a daily cost. Slow movers are silent killers.

3. Receiving labor. Unboxing, counting, tagging, shelving. Real hours = real dollars.

4. Damaged / defective rate. Budget 2–4% even from good suppliers.

5. Returns. Customer returns cost you twice: refund + restocking time.

6. Payment processing. 2.9% on the way in. Compounds on every transaction.

7. Dead stock. The cost no one wants to write down — but it's the biggest one.
